Pumpkins!

Last night I had a wonderful birthday dinner with some really great friends. Afterwards we carved pumkins. I always forget how bad I am at doing this. 1. It's hard to draw on a pumpkin. 2. Those little tools never really work. 3. I can never think of anything cool enough to carve into my pumpkin creation.
I love Florida. And Pearl.
I know dat's right.

I'm a monster.
Guts.

I'm 23

I'm 23. Yep, it happened. It's been okay so far.
More to come on that.

confessions

This is probably going to make you think I'm really lame... and maybe that's true. I just feel like I need to come clean.
  • I would like to see Hanson in concert.
  • I like the new song by Pink. It's my jam... no, not really. But I do like it.
  • I've never had a cool haircut.
  • When I was 16 I really wanted to be one of those cool merch girls... usually the girlfriend of one of the band members. She was always really cool and indie but kinda mean. Been there, done that. Now, sometimes I wish I was 16 again. Sometimes.
  • I don't really know a thing about computers. I know how to use word, excell and itunes. That's it.
  • Boy Meets World is still one of my favorite shows.

judge away

I LOVE junior fiction. It's my favorite. I know, I'm obviously 12. Here are some of my faves.

I know a certain boy who is also a fan of this book...
I wont tell you who.
This one is incredible. And actually, the movie isn't that bad either.
Classic.
Junie gives great advice.
For some reason, this was one of my favorites. I don't really remember why.
I love the Harry Potter series. I started reading them in 8th grade.
Best book ever. I love the Herdmans.
Everyone knows I aspire to be Nancy Drew.
Well, I am an american girl...
My all time faves. I still read the SummerHill Secrets books. Earlier this year I met Beverly Lewis and she signed all of them.

Adventure Day

Me and Brie! Sorry I have George Washington hair. Sometimes it just happens.
Brie
Me... again with the hair.
I'm loving this perspective.
It's pretty important to have a colored tv these days.
We had a pretty good Adventure today. Oleno State park, roadside attractions, creepy hotels, photo shoots, random rivers, and top 40 radio. Ridiculous, I know. Also, I had a pretty good Office marathon with Daniel last night.
dates to remember:
Wednesday- My birthday! Yay!
Friday- Halloween! One of my favorite holidays.
Saturday- Micanopy craft fair!
weekend- various birthday celebrations

If you like...

Jesus, fall weather, rainy days, late night walks, crafty things, bravo tv, Wes Anderson movies, painting, vintage jewels, banjos, green tea, good conversations, an occasional hot mess, 80s teen movies, taking pictures, camp, the office, elephants, pretty shoes, ice cream, green, wood grain, boy meets world, the 50s and 60s, the beatles, late nights, and having fun...

We should be friends.
For real though.
I love new friends.

me... and the things I like.

-I like trees.
-I read a lot of junior fiction...

-I like boys in bandanas. Always. Call me.

-I'm trying to be healthier. And draw more in my art journal. I didn't draw this... and I don't drink beer.

-I love buttons.

-I once slept in a tee pee. I might do it again.
-I always really liked the first day of school. Maybe it was the new school supplies. Maybe it was seeing all of my friends again. I don't really know.

-I love this dress. It reminds me of Betsy Johnson... only a little less cray cray.

-This is my current favorite tattoo. It's a line from Slaughter House Five.
"Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt"
-This is my second favorite tattoo. Connect the dots!

Well, That's me.

I find hope.

Recently I have had a lot of sad conversations. Sad because there is nothing I can do. Sad because I hate to see my friends hurting. Sad because they are about important things now... not things like history tests and being grounded. Despite all the sadness around me, I'm not sad. I have far too much to be happy about.

Dear sad friends,
Know that I love you and that it's okay to be sad sometimes. Also, know that you wont be sad forever, even if it seems like that right now.
Love,
Allison

Old

In one week I will be 23. 23!! Wow, I feel so old... but that's okay because I LOVE birthdays. And not just my own. I love all birthdays. Here are some things you can get me for my birthday:

-art (anything you make or you like or you think I would like)
-vintage/fun/crazy jewelry
-anything green or woodgrain
-sweet jams (Ryan Adams, Laura Marling, The Submarines, Chuck Ragan, ect)
-a sweet, old, big, dog named Dolly Honeysuckle
-good reads
-a visit with my friends that live far away (MeLissa, Alee, Audra, Nathan, Whitney, ect.)

copeland

It makes me sad to say this... but I'm not impressed with the new copeland album. I've loved them for a long time and I was expecting great things. Maybe my musical taste has changed and copeland just hasn't changed with me. I'm going to give them another chance in a few weeks.

Today is the day

-woke up at 9:30
-showered/got ready/wasted time/read blogs/watched the food network
-didn't eat breakfast (but should have)
-went to churchy-church
-read some Acts
-talked to some people about Africa and mission trips and passports.
-went to the mall so Daniel could show me and Brie the new old lady store...
-had lunch with Brie, Daniel, Kyle, Joey, Maria and Laura Katherine.
-didn't really enjoy the food but did enjoy the company.
-worked on some projects/read/watched dumb tv.
-downloaded a Hanson song...
-talked to some of those good campy-camp friends.
-made dinner.
-worked on a super secret project.
-watched one of my all time favorite movies with Brie...

It was kind of a boring day...

Goodies (not the store... and not the private parts)

Music

-Laura Marling- (seen right) is basically incredible. She's only 18, but she's definitely worth checking out.

-We Are Scientists- My favorite of their songs is "After Hours"

-The Submarines- One of the band members is the great-granddaughter of F. Scott Fitzgerald.

-The Beggars' Guide- It's folky and sad and beautiful. However, some of the songs start to sound the same.

-Chuck Ragan-Lead singer of Hot Water Music, but I think he sounds better on his own. He plays the harmonica and the banjo... what could be better?

-Wild Sweet Orange- Okay, I know I talk about them all the time... but I love them. And who knew such a great thing could come from the state of Alabama?

TV

-Project Runway- Alright, I'm 100% glad Leanne won. Kinley is so RUDE... but she can pull off red lipstick, so she's alright in my book.

-Tyra Banks- Don't judge yet. There aren't many famous people I dislike more than Tyra. Anyway, a girl I went to high school with was on the Tyra show this week. She's 23 and just had her first haircut. Exciting huh? No.

-The Office- Seriously Jan? Don't be a jerk.

Boys that might love me...

Here is a short list of boys I could potentially date and could potentially love me.
1. James Mcavoy-
Swoon!
2. John Krasinski-
He's cute and funny and has a fun last name.

3. Seth Rogen-

Okay, this isn't the best picture. I actually think he's really cute in Superbad... even with the crazy facial hair. I'd totally date him. Also, I really like his speaking voice but I haven't really figured out why.
4. Michael Cera-

AH! Crush! I'm not the biggest fan of his high-pitched voice... but I can live with that.

5. Brandon Flowers-

Mmmm... I love a musician. I also love his hair and I don't mind the mustache or eye liner.

Honorable Mentions:

6. Clive Owen
7. Robert Schwartzman
8. Jason Schwartzman
9. Luke Wilson
10. You?
Oh wait... the only people who read this blog are girls or gay guys. FAIL!
So, if you know any of these guys (or someone like them) please send them my way.
PS- I only like brown headed boys.
