sha la la in my shoes

Yesterday was painted Toms shoes Monday! A few of my friends and I painted them together this summer. Even though we're in different places now, we all decided to wear them yesterday. Here are mine.

Two people have told me they're ugly. RUDE.

have faith

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1

This summer at camp I talked to kids everyday about faith. Faith to take a stand. Faith to wait. Faith to go into the unknown. It was exactly what I needed to hear. I feel like God had me work camp specifically so I would have to hear about it everyday. I never thought it was something I struggled with, but clearly I was wrong. I don't always have faith that God knows what he's doing, that he sees the big picture when I'm only focused on what's right in front of me.

I lost a job not too long ago. It was nothing I did, my position was just eliminated due to lack of funding. Then there were several jobs I applied for that I didn't get. I was more qualified and more professional than the applicants who got the jobs. I didn't understand it. God knew I needed a job and for some reason it went to someone else. Looking back, I can see how these seemingly unfortunate events have turned into something great. I should have had faith that God would provide for me. I ended up having enough money saved so my bills were taken care of even when I was unemployed. Because I lost said job, I was able to work at camp in Mississippi for 2 1/2 months. After camp, I got a job, that certainly wasn't my first or second choice, but has ended up being very rewarding. Rewarding, not only for me, but also for the people I'm working for.

All of that rambling was really just to say have faith. Have faith that God will provide for you in times of need. Have faith that God will fight for you when no one else will. Have faith that his timing is better than ours. Have faith that God sees the big picture when our vision is clouded.
Nice post to follow up the hamburger bed huh?

this is kind of dumb

I've seen this on about 32984789327 blogs recently. I'm giving into peer pressure. I have nothing to do at work right now. Also, these things remind of myspace surveys from 6 years ago. They always made me laugh.

1. Show us the inside of something cute

This is the inside of Katie's garage. The garage isn't cute, but the tie dye underwear is.

2. What's the last homecooking you had?
I don't even remember. Tonight I cooked black bean burgers... but really I just put them on the George Forman grill.

3. What do you miss? (no dead people please)
So, I can't post a picture of MJ? Ok then...

I miss them... but not those dumb fuge pit shirts.

4. What makes you laugh often?

5. What's your favorite word?
If you look up "sorry boutcha" on google image you will see a picture of my face. For real. I'm not kidding.
6. What are you trying to quit?

7. What's your favorite commercial right now?

8. Whose style do you dig?

9. Link to a great blog you've discovered lately...
Well, I LOVE this one. I discovered it a long time ago though. I'm not really following the rules on this thing...

10. What's the last craft you made?
I can't tell you. It's a gift.

11. A photo of the last happy mail you got :]
Happy mail? Well, it was probably that fall mix cd from Baby Jenna. I don't have a picture of the cd, but I do have a picture of her. Haha.

12. Something you've got lately?
I got some good itunes songs. Boring.

13. What are you looking forward to?
Hmm... I'm looking forward to seeing Paper Heart.

14. Post a recent snapshot of yourself.

Oh, maybe that's not so recent.

15. Recent Favorite Movie?
Last night I watched Nick and Norah's infinite playlist again. I love it so much. I will always love meet me in st. louis, the original parent trap, almost famous, royal tenenbaums, darjeeling limited... I could go on forever baby.

16. Something you're working on right now?
crafty-crafts

17. If a movie were made about you, who would play you?

or

18. What gives you goosebumps?
Beautiful things.

19. Share a new obsession.
Jack White (this is only slightly new)

20. What's the meaning of your life?
It's about to get holy in here...

manatee boy band?

This post is dedicated to my favorite animal.
Dear baby manatee,
Come be my pet.
Love,
Allison

Manatee in space!? I love it. It's almost as good as the manatee boy band and manatee hat.

This is so amazing. Happy fall.

Thanks to my friend Kayla, who posted this on myspace.

What's your name? Who's your daddy?

So, after reading Miss Rachel's blog and agreeing with most of it, I've decided to write my own favorite name list. I think names are very important and can determine a child's fate. Seriously. Well, maybe not.

Boys-
Benjamin
Jude
Alec
Jet
Porter

Girls-
Annalee
Lucy
Lillian
Clairabell
Charlie
Clementine (this one might be a little ridiculous)
Dolly

*Note* I'm not at all planning on having any children in the near future. However, my friend Brother had a baby yesterday and my friend Theresa is having a baby today! Yay!

ACL

AHHH! I really REALLY want to go to ACL this fall. Daniel Johnston, the avett brothers, and kings of leon all in one day!? Are you kidding me? When will I ever get another chance to see Daniel Johnston live? Never. Also preforming, bon iver, the decemberist, pearl jam, the b-52s, the dave matthews band, grizzle bear, etc. Amazing. Also, I have some pretty fabulous friends in Texas.

Too bad I don't live in Texas. Or have lots of money.

book it!

I'm starting a book about Pattie Boyd. So far, she seems pretty fabulous. I'm sure when it gets to the part about her leaving George and hooking up with Eric Clapton she wont seem so fabulous.

hold the phone

I've recently discovered that I'm really bad at talking on the phone. I don't listen to voice mails (except I did listen to yours, Jenna). I don't remember to call people back until 2am. I keep my phone mostly on vibrate. I rarely call people even when it's important. Basically, I suck.

So, I want you guys to know that I'm sorry and I'm trying to be better. I don't want to be a rude girl or have bad phone etiquette. Also, I love you.

concerning the ufo sightings or artist of the day

Once in a while I will get caught up in watching something ridiculous like UFO Hunters or a documentary on crop circles. I know, I know... feel free to judge me. Anyway, late last night I was flipping through channels and came across one of these crazy space shows and it reminded me of Ester Pearl Watson's paintings. I love them so much. She has a fun mix of folk art and whimsy with some added grittiness.

sing forgivness songs

In everywhere we look. In everywhere we look. In everywhere we look.
Allah. Allah. Allah.
In everywhere we look.

In everyone we meet. In everyone we meet. In everyone we meet.
Allah. Allah. Allah.
In everyone we meet.

Today Daniel sang "Allah Allah Allah" by mewithoutyou and it reminded me how much I love that song. The song is so simple but so honest and true. I want to see God everywhere I look, in everyone I meet and in every blade of grass. In everything.

terrible yellow eyes

I posted this link on my twitter a few weeks ago, but I think it's worthy of another mention. Terrible Yellow Eyes is a website entirely dedicated to Where the Wild Things Art inspired art. These are some of my favorites:

Awesome huh?

you say it's your birthday?

Happy Birthday Ted aka Terry aka Dad!

Nice suit huh? Please note that the closest I've ever come to mowing a lawn was in that second picture.

Also, even though I'm not a fan of the beatles rock band, I am a fan of all the beatles specials on tv lately. I mean, I own several beatles movies and the anthology dvds, but it's still exciting. Now, I know this video is just Paul... but it's all I could find. Pretend George, John and Ringo are there too.

elephant swimming lessons

Everyone talks about swimming with dolphins (especially here in Florida). And I guess that would be entertaining, but who knew you could swim with ELEPHANTS?! Elephants are my second favorite animal, so I think this would be good for me. Also, I'm an excellent swimmer. Maybe I can teach them lessons.

I despise a floggin' rooster.

I love Cold Mountain for so many reasons. You know those movies that change your perspective on things? Or those movies you just feel connected to? Well, this one is surely on my list.
- I feel very certain that I will one day live in those mountains.
- It's so visually stunning. I like to watch beautiful movies.
- Jack White playing the mandolin and singing wayfaring stranger. Can you ask for more?
- Southern accents
- Jude Law
- All-star cast with all-star cameos
- Love, war, growing, remembering, waiting...
- This incredible scene

He got feet down below his knee

So, I'm completely in love with this commercial.
1. Sometimes I'm slightly obsessed with the beatles.
2. Come Together is my all time favorite beatles song.
3. This commercial tricks me into thinking John and George are still alive and a reunion tour is possible.

However, I really REALLY hate that there will be a Beatles rock band. You know this is killing Paul and Ringo.

babes

Today I'm hanging out with these two.

if this old house could talk

It's funny how looking back on the past, you see things very differently than you did when they were actually happening. Like how something hard or upsetting now seems funny and awkward. Or something that seemed way awesome at the time, is now incredibly embarrassing... especially when there is photo evidence. Like how about that time I liked skillet? Gross.

I know that life and relationships are always changing. We change, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Regardless, we change. When I think about the relationships I've had with people in the last ten years or so, I'm just incredibly taken back by how they've disappeared, grown or transformed into something completely different. And then there are people I met 3 months ago that I can't imagine living without.

I like how God puts specific people in your life at specific times for specific reasons.

hey pretty thing

I really love unconventional art. I have a great appreciation for a beautiful concert poster. I hope you enjoy these... I sure do.
