summer list one

This summer I would like to cook/bake/throw together:

1. banana pudding, a southern delicacy. I need to perfect my recipe.
2. hummingbird cake, one of my dad's favorites. My mother's mother used to make it for my dad when they would visit.
3. homemade oatmeal cream pies. This one's been on my list for a while.
4. the perfect summertime pasta salad. Mayonnaise not included.
5. Allison and Leanne's super banana smoothies
6. thematic food for a Wes Anderson movie night and a Jurassic Park movie marathon. Any ideas?

PS- I got two totally awesome vintage pyrex dishes this past week. My collection is growing.

i am COMPLETELY with you on the no-mayonnaise pasta salad. i much prefer when these types of things are tossed with olive oil. or something else. but not mayonnaise.

and two new pyrex dishes... exciting! do you look for specific colors/patterns?

olive oil > mayonnaise. always.

I love all vintage pyrex dishes, but I especially appreciate the brighter colored ones. They just make me so happy.

Thematic movie/dinner nights. Matt and I love to play this game (we would). I cannot take all credit for the following. Matt is much better than I:

Wes Anderson
"shark" or just seafood - life aqutic
tea and indian food - darjeeling limited
chicken, apples, cider, duck (but that gets expensive) - fantastic mr fox

Jurassic Park
Chilean sea bass (apparently the just the ultimate JP fan will get that one)
or just have fun with naming your food like Bronto-burgers (for the meat-asaurases) and Stego-salad (for the veggie-saurasus)

Remember Dinner and a Movie on TBS? Matt and I are going to try to make our own little series this summer. Go ahead, you can say it...nerds.
