old stuff

I used to take pictures. I used to have a better camera. Ok, actually I still have the camera... it's just sick. Now, most of the pictures I take are on a cheap Kodak point and shoot. Anyway, I was going through some old photos I had taken a few years ago and I came across my favorite one. It was taken at a day camp I worked at for poor and underprivileged kids. Friday was water day.

This is my second favorite photo. It wasn't taken during water day, but it does involve lots of water. Atlanta Aquarium circa 2006.

Lou Ann

My moms birthday was wednesday.
Some things about my mom:
- She will always watch Meet me in St. Louis with me.
- She makes the most delicious homemade apple butter.
- She woke me up every single morning while I was in high school because I hate alarm clocks.
- She took this awesome senior portrait in the 70s.

Now, my mom can frustrate me to no end, but I love her with my whole heart.

You're such a square.

"Don't be a square." If you've ever met me, you know this is in my everyday vocabulary. While I'm never a fan of a square, I do love the website Square America. It's an online gallery of vintage photos. They're organized by subject and date, so whether you're looking up January 1936 or machinery, there's something for you. I'm a huge fan... and I've spent way too much time on it. Enjoy.

this is no bird, it's a lady!

I was in a hateful mood earlier, and when that happens I try to remember things I love rather than hate. I came up with some good ones today.
I love:
banyan trees

Loretta Lynn

reunions

Exodus

this bag

These pictures my pastor has been uplaoding while in Guatemala. Aren't they beautiful?

We'll send him a red cap and a speedo.

The first time I watched Life Aquatic I didn't really like it. I may have been too young. Or too dumb. I'm not sure. Either way, a few years ago I decided to watch it again... and again and again. Now, it's one of my favorite movies. I love all the scenes, characters, music, quirks, etc. I think this is one of the most beautiful scenes I've seen in years.

this town makes so much noise now

I really REALLY like the art and designs by Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. She's creative, whimsical and amazingly talented. Please check her out.

Also, I've been listening to old kings of leon, wild sweet orange, jack white, and chris thile today. Wonderful.

John Hughes. Too soon.

I feel like John Hughes owns a little part of my childhood. Not in a creepy way... In an I can not even begin to imagine the amount of times I've watched 16 Candles or the Breakfast Club or Home Alone or Dennis the Menace kind of way. I honestly quote 16 Candles on a daily basis. This is terrible news and I think I need to morn. I will leave you with this clip.
