Happy Memorial Day

Lately I have experienced:
rainy mississippi weather, far too much man love, late night towel time, rec (if you know me, you know this is a problem), fuge, excessive guy thigh, late night walmart runs, lifting heavy boxes, bruises, busted knees, poopy rec fields, roommate alliance, dan scarlton shirts, laura bars, exodus, and paper airplanes. Not so bad for the first week of training. Pictures coming soon.
ps- Happy Memorial Day.

and it begins...

I'm currently in Clinton, Mississippi. The rest of my camp staff will be here in about 12 hours. Exciting huh?

I spent last weekend at Ridgecrest in North Carolina for missions mobilizer training. I learned a tremendous amount about Canada and the Roma. Here we are...

Did I mention it was about 40 degrees and I could see my breath?
Dear North Carolina, It's May, don't be so cold. Love, Allison

one day

"Narnia. Narnia. Narnia, awake. Love. Think. Speak. Be walking trees. Be talking beast. Be divine waters." - C.S. Lewis - The Magician's Nephew

I'm leaving for camp tomorrow. I'll be returning on July 27th. I'll keep you updated.

songs of the redeemed

This was my friday night. We have concerts at my church for a bunch of kids that would normally never go to church. I love these kids. I love working with youth, especially this kind. They remind me of who I am and what I want to do in my life.

I take no credit for these pictures. They were all taken by my friend Pearl. I love her too.

Lou Ann

That's my mom circa 1981! She really likes cook books, Christian lady romance novels, Christmas music, Beth Moore, monkey bread, babies, and me! Ha. I love her. So, happy mother's day.

gocco saturday

Here is some stuff I worked on today thanks to my gocco. CD art and packaging for my friend Cliff Hutchison! Look out for him, he has the voice of an angel.

The sweetest winds they blow across the south.

Another reason I should be in Louisiana...

jewels

Is this too much jewelry to take to camp? I think maybe.

what heights of love

"We often ask God to show up. We pray prayers of rescue. Perhaps God would ask us to be that rescue, to be His body, to move for things that matter. He is not invisible when we come alive. I might be simple but more and more, I believe God works in love, speaks in love, is revealed in our love."

God is revealed in our love. I believe this with my whole heart... and yet I still struggle with loving people everyday. Loving doesn't always come naturally for me. As horrible as it is, I have an uncanny ability to find fault in people. How can I be someones rescue when I can't even love them? I want to love people in their faults. This is something I pray about everyday. I'm trying to be different.

spitfires? really?!

Just so everyone is updated, I leave in 9 days for training in North Carolina. I will be there for about 4 days and then head over to camp. Woo!
Before I leave I need to:
- make about 238438 lists... because that's how I live my life.
- wash, dry, pack all my clothes. My camp clothes are almost completely different from my real life clothes. Never in my real life would I wear red and black basketball shorts...
- find all of my jewelry because it's never in one place
- finish learning the bible study and become an expert on Moses.
- learn all the missions mobilizer information
- become an expert on the Roma
- find my tube socks for a ridic athletic night life
- figure out why my bible study group is going to be called the spitfires...
- finish cd art/packaging for Cliff
- spend quality time with Brie because she's my fave
- spend quality time with Daniel because he wont be here when I return
- finish season 1 of True Blood
- maybe shoot some guns this weekend? I'm really excited about this because I will first pretend to be a cowboy, then a hip hop gangsta, then Rambo. Thank you Hancock/Peace gun club.

Okay, that's not all of it... but that's all I can think of at the moment.

O bantu.

The Journey is the most amazing, inspiring, uplifting blog I've ever read. It's the journey of one young woman, Katie, raising 13 children in Africa. I read her blog and all I see is faith hope and love. She's changing the world.
